Less than three years after Chris Purcell and Michael Hughes embarked on plans to build an authentic Irish pub at 933 Baxter Ave. and did so, they have sold it.
Effective Feb. 1, the new, owners of Molly Malone's Irish Pub & Restaurant are Tadgh O'Callaghan and Donal Ryan, who, like Purcell and Hughes, are natives of Ireland. O'Callaghan and Ryan would not disclose the purchase price.
"We feel like they have the experience to take it to the next level," Purcell said. "It's time for us to ... pursue other interests."
It might seem an abrupt turn for the two Irish natives, who invested more than $1 million and several months to remodel a Highlands-area home and build a structure, now more than 4,000 square feet, to house three Irish-pub styles in one building.
Purcell simply called it his "baby."
