Word that Newsmax, the politically conservative Web site/magazine led by Bill Clinton antagonist Christopher Ruddy with, per the New York Post (June 7), financial support from fellow antagonist Richard Mellon Scaife, is in the running for the for-sale Newsweek came after National Review (also June 7) called the one-year-old redesigned version "a weekly reader of thumbsuckers"--meaning that it was full of liberal opinion, with Jonathan Alter and Eleanor Clift mentioned. NR headlined that the buyer should pay XTRA [sic] to keep George Will, who is on the right--but not to the far right of NR, Ruddy, and Scaife.
