Ann Arbor-based NSF international has acquired Quality Assurance International Inc., a San Diego-based for-profit company that certifies organic food and consumer goods.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Many of NSF's grocery-store and restaurant customers for whom it performs foodsafety inspections were asking if the nonprofit could provide organic certifications, and QAI was a good fit, said Kevan Lawlor, NSF International's CEO and president.
