The induction industry lost a giant and I lost one of my best friends - Bob Ruffini - who died suddenly on November 12, 1999 in an auto accident. He was in Saskatchewan, Canada on a hunting trip. I am often reminded in business that we are all replaceable, but Bob was not. He was truly one of a kind. I could say that he was a world traveler, a holder of patents, an author and lecturer, a pilot, a great family man -- all true -- but that would be only a small part of the story. He was also creative, dynamic, inventive, energetic, smart, handsome, a fierce competitor and a dear friend to people worldwide.
Bob had a true love of flying. When he was a boy, he went to Detroit City Airport to watch planes take off and land. That experience stayed with him. After a stint in the Army, he learned how to fly. He restored a 1940 J-3 Piper Cub which he flew all over North America (even used pontoons for water landings).
