Microsoft took the wraps off Office 97 at the company's "intranet strategy day" on June 13, positioning its next-generation application suite as a comprehensive set of tools for publishing and accessing documents on corporate intranets. Office 97, due this fall, will let users:
- Save documents in HTML format and post them directly to a World Wide Web server;
- Run any Office applications from within Internet Explorer, Microsoft's Web browser, and use the browser's forward and backward arrows to move between documents;
- Embed hyperlinks in any Office document that point to documents on an internal or external Web site...
