TELECOMWORLDWIRE-31 July 2001-Oftel publishes review of UK's dial- up Internet access market (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http:// www.m2.com Britain's telecomms regulator Oftel says that the UK has a flourishing dial-up Internet access market that offers a wide range of unmetered access services at competitive prices. The regulator reached the conclusion after its recent review of the level of competition in the dial-up narrowband Internet market. The review also reveals that 10m households now have Internet access in Britain compared to 6m a year ago and that 35% of the households have chosen some form of unmetered Internet access package. However, consumers had some concerns about the quality of customer service they receive and the availability of information to enable them to choose the right package, Oftel notes.
