The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio on Aug. 15 approved a green power pricing option for FirstEnergy Corp. that will allow customers to voluntarily pay a premium for up to 5,000 kWh of energy generated through renewable sources.
"This is an important early step toward more widespread use of environmentally-friendly sources of electricity," said PUCO Chairman Alan Schriber.
