Oklahoma is so OK that the State Fair of Oklahoma wants to emphasize the state in the event's name in a change that kicks off a master plan that could cost "north of $50 million."
The newly re-dubbed Oklahoma State Fair comes with a new logo - Raising the Roof - that will be more permanent than previous logos and that will lead to more merchandising opportunities than in the past, according to President and General Manager Skip Wagner.
"Really, it was several things," Wagner said. "We wanted to go with a recognizable name that everyone,"referred to us by anyway In the community, we are the Oklahoma State Fair. When you add to that the importance of Internet, electronic marketing and billboards, it's simpler and more direct."
The Oklahoma City-based fair's Web site address has been changed to reflect the new name, from oklafair. org to oklahomastatefair.com, which also takes into consideration a preference to be a "dot-com" rather than a "dot-org."
