Market Street East, which probably has seen more letters of intent turn to dust in recent years than any other shopping district in town, has landed one of the nation's best-known retailers: Old Navy.
Metro Commercial Real Estate broker Lisa Rosenfeldt persuaded Old Navy to sign a long-term lease for a 32,000-square-foot, two-level store at 10th and Market streets in the Gallery II mall.
"It was a lot of hard work," Rosenfeldt said. "And it took a long time."
Other retailers have been rumored to be "coming soon" to Market Street East since the latter days of former Mayor Edward G. Rendell's administration - DisneyQuest, Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, to name just a few.
But while developers either lost leases or let deals languish with those retailers, Rosenfeldt tenaciously tugged at Old Navy in negotiations that started more than a year ago ("Old Navy and more headed for Market East," Philadelphia Business Journal,...
