LA-based Ruben Fleischer didn't always want to be a director. After graduating in history and working at a television studio he got a job as assistant to director Miguel Arteta as he was interested in becoming a TV or film executive. Working for Arteta during the making of the film Chuck and Buck and also The Good Girl, Fleischer's first-hand experience inspired him to direct.
So much so, in fact, that he's racked up major debt due to the costs of making videos and films at his own expense. "I figured I've got to keep making stuff and my debt would be about the same...
