A local company, Teambank.org, wants to eliminate some of the financial obstacles sports teams face by giving them a method to fund themselves online.
Teambank.org developed an easy-to-use crowdfunding platform that allows teams to raise money for uniforms, practice equipment, tournaments, travel, facility upgrades, new staff/trainers and player registration, among other needs. To date, about 100 schools use the platform.
A spinoff from the high school athletics marketing and branding company Community All-Stars (CAS), Teambank.org gives potential donors a place to go when they can't afford advertising or sponsorships.

"We have tons of people who say, 'look, I can't do a sponsorship or advertising, but I'd be more than happy to donate $50'," said Michael Eisen, the founder of both platforms operated under the umbrella company The Michael Corp. "When that happens, what we would do is we would give that individual or that business the contact information to the high school and we would hope on a wish and a prayer that they would send that check in, but that wasn't efficient. It very rarely happened."
