As described earlier, the Optoma EzPro 753 and Mitsubishi XD200 ColorView use the same 0.7-inch DLP chip system, but have different color wheels. In addition, the Optoma EzPro 753 uses a slightly smaller lamp - 200 watts vs. the Mitsubishi's 210 watts. All by itself, however, that tiny difference in lamp wattage doesn't account for the measured 200-lumen difference in light output between the two units. Either the Optoma uses a slightly less efficient optical design or, most likely, the fairly large difference in red and blue color saturation accounts for the lower lumens.
Optoma claims the EzPro 753 puts out 1,600 ANSI lumens, and I found 1,534 ANSI lumens with the maximum-- brightness wide-- zoom lens setting, which puts it within 5 percent of spec. Using the same contrast and brightness settings I used to measure lumens, I measured the EzPro 753's ANSI contrast ratio at 219-to-1-- about average for a...
