More than two years after opening a personal storage franchise, Tom Peebles is packing customers in - and branching out.
Because of enormous growth and gaining an additional three-county market, Peebles recently opened a new warehouse for his Portable On Demand Storage units. The new 42,000-square-foot facility in West Carrollton will nearly double the storage space of his former warehouse on Springboro Pike, which was filled to capacity
"We looked in Miamisburg, Miami Township and Moraine, but there just wasn't any property to accommodate (the new warehouse) with our specifications," Peebles said.
From its beginnings in August 2000 with 35 PODS units, one employee and two delivery trucks, Peebles, a longtime homebuilder, and his wife, Sandy, have built a business that includes 550 PODS, seven employees and five delivery trucks.
Sales of $750,000 in 2002, Peebles' second full year of operations, were double the previous year. Peebles said his company is well on track to do $1 million plus
in sales for 2003.
Peebles picked a fast-growing franchise, but he has had to be aggressive to grow PODS in southwest Ohio. He has invested lots of money in advertising...
