The new MDS Nordion and IBA partnership offers a viable alternative for food companies looking for an inline irradiation solution.
Conventional wisdom dictates that the use of x-ray irradiation for the processing of pallet loads of food or other materials is impossible because you cannot properly dose the center of the pallet to the same level as the outside. However, MDS Nordion and IBA have combined their expertise to develop a system that does just that.
The Palletron employs a revolutionary new method, developed by MDS Nordion and marketed worldwide by IBA, to deliver the proper dosimetry for the x-ray irradiation of meat, poultry, ready-to-eat products, fruits, and vegetables on pallets.
