'У Michael Dummer has been named deputy director of the South Dakota Division of Banking. He replaces Deputy Director John Crompton, who retired in August after more than 30 years of service to the department.
Dummer joined the department in May 2006 and is a certified senior bank examiner. He has a bachelor's degree from South Dakota State University, Brookings.
V Doug Bass assumed the role of president and chief operating officer of Great Western Bancorp, Inc., Sioux Falls, S.D.
As chairman and CEO, Ken Karels will continue to lead the company but will shift focus toward long-term strategy, business expansion and acquisition activities, board governance and regulatory relations.
In his new role, Bass will be responsible for implementing technological and strategic initiatives and overall loan and deposit growth, de novo office expansion, operating efficiency, and people and culture. Bass will report to Karels.
Bass has more than 36 years of banking experience and has worked in various capacities with Great Western Bank since 2009. Before joining Great Western Bank, Bass served as president of First American Bank Group. Bass also served in various capacities over 15 years with Firstar Corp.
У Dan Nistler has been promoted to market president at Merchants Bank, Rochester, Minn.
Nistler's primary responsibilities will be to provide leadership for Merchants Bank's two Rochester locations. He will also continue serve as a commercial banker.
Nistler succeeds John Doyle, who will be retiring as the Rochester market president at the end of 2018. Doyle has led the growth of Merchants in Rochester since it entered the market in 1999.
Nistler has been with Merchants since 2013 and has been a banker in the Rochester area since 1999. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Salt Lake City. He graduated from Winona State University, Winona, Minn., with a bachelor's degree in finance.
? Doug Frazzini joins Ålerus, Grand Forks, N.D., as vice president, capital markets. His duties will include participating in the establishment of trading systems, adding investors and assisting in pricing strategies.
