Carlson Inducted Into Wireless Hall Of Fame
LEROY (ROY) T. CARLSON, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc., has been inducted into the Wireless History Foundation Hall of Fame. Carlson, 94, founded TDS in 1969. Initially, it comprised 10 small, rural telephone companies. In 1983, Carlson founded TDS subsidiary United States Cellular Corp., which is now the sixth-largest full-service wireless provider in the US. He was CEO of TDS until 1986 and Chairman until 2002. Carlson remains a Director of the firm. "Roy has always believed that technology has the power to transform people's lives," says TDS President and CEO, LeRoy T. Carlson, Jr.
