PHAROS GPS NAVIGATOR GUIDES LOST WORKERS
Any field-based worker, salesperson, delivery person or frequent traveler will tell you that time is money and missing or arriving late for appointments often can lead to significant monetary loss.
Solution providers looking to keep their customers on time can offer up Pharos Science and Applications' Pocket GPS Navigator with Bluetooth technology, a complete GPS navigation solution that works with just about any handheld device. The Torrance, Calif.-based company specializes in street navigation and routing solutions and offers a wide range of GPS solutions for PDAs.
Using the Bluetooth GPS solution, a PDA can connect wirelessly to the GPS receiver. Many new PDAs have Bluetooth capabilities built in, and users who don't have Bluetooth can easily add it by using a Bluetooth adapter. The technology's short range does have limitations but when used in a vehicle, range is not an issue.
The GPS Navigator gathers its location information from a constellation of GPS satellites, and depending on the number of satellites from which it receives information at any given moment, the system can provide a 2-D or 3-D location. Anyone with the appropriate hardware and software can use the PDA to plot their position on a map.
