Company executives highlight usage of scripting language and map out future
The PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) server-side scripting language is at the heart of a major change in the software industry, with applications reconfigured for Web enablement and users become more involved, Harold Goldberg, CEO of Zend Technologies, said Tuesday at the Zend/PHP Conference in Burlingame, Calif.
Goldberg cited four major business trends affecting applications, including extending existing applications; unlocking information; exploiting of applications, including reusing Web code and using Web services; and end-user participation.
"What we're doing is we're modernizing applications. We're taking applications built 20, 20, 40, 10 [years ago and bringing them] into the future," Goldberg said.
