Pixo Digital File Corp., Laguna Hills, would like to be the Kinko's of the digital age.
Instead of photocopies, the company takes paper documents, converts them to digital format and stores the information on CD-ROMs. Customers include Edison International, Rosemead, MGE UPS Systems Inc. in Costa Mesa and Pharmacia Inovision Inc. in Irvine.
Electronically converting paper documents is an area pioneered by Costa Mesa-based FileNet Corp., which uses large computer and software systems to make corporate electronic documents available on a network.
In contrast, Pixo Digital File works on a project basis, for example scanning and indexing 250,000 Edison documents for the sales of 12 power plants by the utility. Pixo Digital File produced 30 CD-ROMs for Edison with information about the plants for potential buyers.
For MGE UPS Systems Inc., a French maker of backup power supplies systems with its North American headquarters in Costa Mesa, Pixo Digital File converted 30 technical manuals and 300 pages of circuit diagrams into five CD-ROMs.
