AdPay's Click-N-Buy adds new functions to newspaper advertising
LOUISVILLE - When Mike Heene was shopping for a used printer about six years ago in the Denver Post's classifieds, he found what he wanted. But then he noticed something that changed his life: the online listing looked exactly like the print version.
Yawn.
He clicked on the ad and nothing happened. Curious, he visited Web sites of the country's largest newspapers and learned that simply putting classified text online was considered state-of-the-art.
Heene set out to give those online ads some life, and the result is his company, AdPay Inc.
Today, thanks to AdPay, consumers looking to sell their wares in the newspaper classifieds can dress up their online ads with extra text, photos and multimedia content. Plus, they get the choice of selling items for a fixed price, a negotiated price, or they can even hold an auction.
AdPay, based in Englewood with sales, marketing and business development in Louisville, is selling the technology to newspapers around the country. The company has 24 full-time employees.
