In Canada, they are something of a rarity these days: companies whodouble both as folding carton operations as well as commercial print suppliers. One of these companies is Senton Printing and Packaging, a London, Ont.-based company now in its 15th year of operations.
"The folding carton business really gives us a nice niche in the commercial printing side," says Senton executive vice-president Peter Kellenberger.
"We have the equipment so that if a commercial account wants to do a longer run die-cut piece--say 50,000 presentation folders--we can die-cut them and then run them through our folder/gluer at very high speeds, which is very cost-effective. Then, the same equipment can be quickly changed over to satisfy our folding carton requirements," he says.
To emphasize Senton's flexibility, Kellenberger points to a recent undertaking that, on the surface, appeared daunting, but was handled with ease by the company.
"We had a project requiring three brochures that went inside a specially-designed carton. Inside the carton, along with the brochures, there was a video sleeve and a cassette insert. We were the only...
