As European purified isophthalic acid (PIA) producers strive to recoup lost margins, greater demand from downstream markets has given them increased optimism for achieving price hikes. Players say that although the PIA market has already shown considerable improvement over 2003, with signs of steady growth, they remain under constant pressure to try to recover eroded margins as raw material costs continue to escalate.
