CARY - Kevin Gahan has a lot on his mind. The 44year-old WorldCom Inc. executive juggles hefty responsibilities at work along with three little wonders at home. As the father of 2-year-old triplets Amy, Sara and Bradley, Gahan knows about the importance of communication.
Gahan, vice president of advanced network solutions and network management for the telecom giant is trying to make it easier for businesses to communicate by managing large networks. He and his wife, Amanda, have lived in the Triangle since 1994, when the network operations facility was moved to Cary from Washington, D.C.
"The hardest part of my job is the need to travel a lot," he says. "It keeps me busy, and the triplets are quite a challenge. We try to get away a few weeks of the year. It gives me time to spend with them."
Gahan also finds himself operating during a challenging time for the entire telecommunications industry. But he points out that his sector is one of the few in telecom that is thriving, because businesses increasingly are looking for more cost-efficient...
