R.E. Linkous has definitely put his mark on the landscape of Memphis.
Go almost anywhere in the city, in the Mid-South for that matter, and you are sure to see a building erected by Linkous' company, Linkous Construction Co., Inc.
In the past 27 years, Linkous has had a hand in building more than 31 million square feet of commercial and industrial property in the area either through his company or his previous employer.
His firm's projects include retail structures like Trinity Commons and Saddle Creek shopping center, numerous churches including Bellevue Baptist Church and large industrial projects Re Brother International's massive facility in Bartlett.
Linkous' company even built the Renaissance Center tower where its offices reside.
Born and raised in Blacksburg, Va., construction was a family heritage for Linkous, whose father owned a general contracting business.
"My dad was a home builder in Blacksburg, so I've been around construction all of my life and I knew from day one that is what I wanted to do," Linkous says. "I wanted to be involved in construction."
