The driving force in Rhonda Moret's career has been impatience.
She was so impatient, in fact, she took some chances that many in the business community would see as obstacles and turned them into opportunities.
Despite advice that it would look bad on her resume, she would work somewhere for a year, feel she had mastered the skills and move on.
"I didn't want to hang around until the person above me decided to leave. So I would move somewhere else," she says.
"Years ago, I started at one of the largest ad agencies in Los Angeles, and I worked on the Universal Studios account," Moret recalls. "From there, I got very impatient, so I would job hop."
With many others in between, the final foray involved a successful stint with the first Nike Golf Learning Center where she worked with superstar Tiger Woods. She opened several golf centers, and then that pesky impatience set in.
"When I got to about 80 centers, I thought, OK, my work here is done," she says.
That's when she decided to open her own business, Tieken/Moret Design & Marketing and MMI Marketing.
In May 2002, she acquired Tieken, a graphic design company that has been in the Valley for about 20 years - again ignoring contrary advice.
"A lot of people I consulted with initially said, 'Why are you making that huge investment?...
