Dell 2300MP
Dell is marketing the 2300MP for business, education and consumer use, touting the projector's balance of high brightness and resolution at a relatively low price. With XGA resolution j (1,024 × 768 pixels) and a maximum brightness of 2,300 ANSI lumens, the $1,499 projector is inarguably a good value.
In the Presentations lab, the 2300MP put 2,111 lumens on our test screen - 8 percent lower than Dell's figure but still plenty bright for most conference rooms. But it missed its contrast ratio spec by 39 percent, giving a 1,292-to-1 reading, versus Dell's 2,100-to-1 claim.
However, the projector's video performance exceeded our expectations. S-video and composite connections produced above-average video for such a small DLP projector. Performance in our photographic tests was hit or miss; some images looked sharp and beautiful and others somewhat blown out.
Set in its default mode, the 2300MP struggled with the white end of the grayscale, and solid yellow tones appeared a tinge brownish. Other colors were spot on, though,...
