San Francisco-based issuer Providian Financial Corp. (PVN) formed a partnership earlier this month with online lender E-Loan. The agreement has Providian's Internet credit card, Aria, placed as the exclusive credit card available on E-Loan's Web site. The alliance will serve to broaden E-Loan's consumer loan products, and Providian's profile on the Internet. Consumers who visit the E-Loan web site can click on an icon and begin the instant approval process for an Aria Visa. Providian is the sixth-largest bankcard issuer in the United States. It has $18 billion in assets under management, and more than 10 million customers. E-Loan was founded in 1996, when it launched its consumer mortgage operations online. The company added car loans, credit cards and small business loans to its product line in last month. (Laurie Cole, Providian, 415/278-4844.)
