TELECOMWORLDWIRE-21 August 2001-Proxim acquires Card Access (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com The California- based wireless broadband networking specialist Proxim Inc has acquired Card Access Inc. Card Access is a Utah-based privately- held company that develops and manufactures mobile and embedded communications devices. Through the purchase Proxim hopes to expand its solution set for the enterprise wireless networking market and to accelerate the development of its next-generation, high-speed wireless networking solutions. Under the agreement Proxim will issue 400,000 of its own shares, worth approximately USD4m, for Card Access` stock and assume around USD0.5 of its debt. In addition, performance incentives could increase the consideration by up to 200,000 of Proxim's shares to a total of USD6m. Card Access' employees will now be integrated into Proxim's development, sales and marketing units. ((Comments on this story may be sent to [email protected]))
