Despite a bout with pneumonia and laryngitis, John Venator talked with everything channel about his accomplishments, how he ran the Comptia board and about that hacienda. Here are his thoughts on those topics--and more.
On why his compensation changed so dramatically in 2006:
Venator: The executive committee determined about three years prior that they wished to establish a membership challenge, based very specifically on reseller locations. At the very time, we were involved in developing a more extensive, grassroots, public-policy effort, and it was felt that the more Comptia could show that there were a large number of local reseller employers in those communities they would have more influence with congressmen and senators. It was a five-year challenge, but by working darn hard ... we made the challenge...
