Most commercial real estate professionals are still getting their feet wet in the business when they are in their late 20s. By the time Kew Gardens, Queens native Rama Bassalali turned 28, however, he had already founded his own brokerage.
"I had done so many sales and I was closing the deals and signing them, so there was no reason to be working for someone else," says Bassalali, who launched RMB Properties in 2002 after nine years as a commercial real estate broker with Besen and Associates Inc.
"Rama is one of the more astute, aggressive and knowledgeable brokers out there," says attorney Andrew Albstein of Goldberg, Weprin & Ustin, who has worked with Bassalali since his early years at Besen and Associates and most recently partnered with him on the sale of three properties for $32 million on Park Avenue South.
