RICHARDSON - Rapid5 Networks, a startup maker of telecom gear that had corporate offices in Richardson and Silicon Valley, has shut down.
Shirish Patel, the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of the 3-year-old concern, confirmed the closure in a voicemail this week, but offered no details. "I don't have any more information to give you," he said in the message.
In August 2001, Rapid5 opened a 45,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Plano that was designed to accommodate 150 employees. The company had begun moving workers to that plant, and said at the time it planned to begin selling its systems in the fall of 2001.
