The long-term success of regional telecommunications carriers in the United States is largely connected to their international operations, according to Decision Resources Inc.'s new report, Outlook for Regional Telephone Companies: Building Global Portfolios. The companies profiled in the report--AirTouch Communications Inc. (ATI), Ameritech Corp. (AIT), Bell Atlantic Corp. (BEL), BellSouth Corp. (BLS), GTE Inc. (GTE), SBC Communications Inc. (SBC) and MediaOne-- have investments in international ventures encompassing more than 33 million cellular subscribers and 35 million wired access lines.
