Trinity Health groups Philadelphia-area hospitals into new system
Trinity Health has realigned its Philadelphia-area hospitals in order to create larger regional health ministries. James Woodward, current CEO of St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., will lead the new system and choose his regional executive team.
The system, called Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, comprises St. Mary's; St. Francis Healthcare in Wilmington, Del.; Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa.; and Mercy Philadelphia Hospital and Nazareth Hospital, also in Philadelphia. The Mercy hospitals were acquired about six years ago. None of the hospitals' names are expected to be changed.
Woodward will continue to serve as St. Mary's leader until a new chief executive is named. He does not expect the hospitals' 9,200 employees to be affected negatively. The new system will concentrate on establishing regional centers of excellence, more coordination of patients' care, a more comprehensive outpatient strategy and streamlined operational efficiencies, according to...
