Brentwood-based AllianceSports is launching a new initiative to put its Rivals.com online sports network on as many computer screens as possible.
A couple of months back, the company unveiled new technology to make its sports news content available to other online publications.
In June, Alliance bought the assets of now-defunct Rivals Inc. in a firesale deal that included assets it had sold to the Seattle-based company in January 2000 for $2.5 million.
Alliance officials won't say how much they paid for Rivals, but characterized it as "pennies on the dollar."
Rivals is a network of sites providing coverage on a variety of sports. The sites focus heavily on sports recruiting information.
Since the buy-back, AllianceSports has been retooling the Rivals network of Web sites and upgrading its technology to make a serious push to gain subscribers, Gough says....
