STATION SQUARE - One of Pittsburgh's biggest nightclubs has filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Attracting lines of hundreds of people less than three years ago, Rock Jungle - with its tiki decorations, live snakes and water walls - closed three weeks ago, according to officials of Station Square.
Now, it awaits a schedule of creditors to be filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Dec. 26.
"We're in legal negotiations right now," said Beth Edwards, general manager of Station Square, of Rock Jungle's closing and Chapter 11 filing. She downplayed the impact the closing would have on the rest of Station Square.
"Obviously, we have some prospective tenants for these spaces," she said of the Rock Jungle space and a few other openings at the development. "It won't be a long-term effect on us."
The Chapter 11 filing marks the second time this year club owner Tom Jayson has filed for bankruptcy protection for a Station Square establishment. In April, Mr. Jayson made a Chapter 11 filing for Bongo's,...
