JW's Chef McLaughlin Moving to The Catch; Morton's Adds Patio
There are some changes good ones at Roy's of Newport Beach. The new General Manager is Barry Pierce, a name familiar to many diners. Barry lives in Laguna Niguel and for the past three years has managed the Daily Grill in the International Terminal at LAX. Before that, he was in a management position with The Ritz and Yankee Tavern restaurants for seven years. To acclimate to the signature Pacific Rim cuisine of Roy's, Barry will train at the Roy's locations in Hawaii and Scottsdale. Barry is replacing current General Manger Norman Grissom, who has been accepted at UC Berkeley where he will work on his MBA.
In another significant move, Roy's also promoted Christopher Garnier to executive chef. Christopher is an eleven-year veteran of Roy's restaurants in Hawaii, where he was personally trained by renowned chef and restaurateur Roy Yamaguchi.
A Catch for The Catch
Another long time OC chef, John McLaughlin, has been appointed executive chef at The Catch, a very popular restaurant near Edison International Field in Anaheim. John spent several years as the chef of JW's in the Anaheim Marriott hotel, handled the kitchen at the Summit House in Fullerton for a while and has been teaching students the art of cooking at Long Beach City College for the past couple of years.
