Figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier have shifted their talents from the ice rink to the boardroom. Canada's gold-medal sweethearts, whose hard-fought win in the figure skating competition was one of the highlights of the 2002 Olympic Games, have signed an exclusive, five-year partnership with The Hockey Company's flagship CCM brand. The Montreal-based Hockey Company manufactures and distributes hockey equipment such as skates, sticks, helmets and protective gear. Len Rhodes, vice-president of global marketing for CCM, says Sale and Pelletier will be involved with the launch of two new lines of women's skates: a recreational line called the Comfort Series and a figure skating line called the Classic Series. These skates will bear Sale's and Pelletier's names, along with a stylized rendering of their initials. Both lines are scheduled to be released this fall in Europe and North America. A line of men's figure skates will be released at a later date. In addition to lending their names to skating products, Sale and Pelletier will also appear in print ads and in-store promotional materials for CCM.
