THE DAWN OF A NEW MILLENNIUM combined with the unprecedented and everevolving age of technology, as well as construction of the biggest technologically advanced scientific tool Canada has ever seen, made the timing far too optimum for Saskatchewan's technology sector to ignore. Therefore, with these parameters impeccably in place, leaders of Saskatchewan's technology sector decided to unite the sector for the good of all. And on June 15, 2000, the Saskatchewan Advanced Technology Association (SATA) was born.
The Saskatchewan Advanced Technology Association is a non-profit corporation aimed at bringing together small to medium sized Saskatchewan-based technology companies and organizations to develop and enhance the advanced technology sector in the province. The purpose of such an organization, says Anne Ballantyne, SATA's 1st vice-president and general manager of Calibre Strategic Services Inc. in Saskatoon, is to provide a forum for member companies to exchange views on industry trends, opportunities, issues, and solutions. In addition, SATA will serve as a united voice to communicate the needs and requirements of Saskatchewan's advanced technology sector to municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
