FLEMING ISLAND - Kohl's expected mass-market entry into Florida will likely include a 100,000-square-foot store at Eagle Harbor.
Kohl's Corp. is expected to buy all or a portion a 17.7-acre parcel at the Fleming Island development, said Holly Schriefer, chief planner for Clay County.
Although the national apparel and home goods retailer favors freestanding stores, developers have indicated that up to four other retailers could open in buildings connected to Kohl's, Schriefer said.
The total square footage allowed on the parcel Kohl's is slated for is 300,000, though it is the only big-box retailer allowed on that land, county documents show
The property Kohl's is considering sits along County Road 210 near its intersection with U.S. 17, according to plans for The Crossing at Fleming Island, which is under development by Eagle Harbor at Fleming Island Inc.
