NF: What is your personal background? For how long have you been in this position and what are the primary goals that you have set for yourself and for your company?
Teck: I graduated from University of London in 1980 with a Master Degree in Naval Architecture. I joined STSE in October 1980. I held various positions in the Design and Engineering Division. I was also appointed as project manager for several major projects including one involving a transfer of technology package to an Indian shipyard. I was promoted to Senior Vice President/GM in March 1994 and appointed as Chief Executive Officer in January 1997. My long-term goal is of course to realise the company's mission of "to be internationally competitive and first class project manager, designer, builder and repair in the marine and related industries." My short and medium-term goals are to further enhance our capability in naval shipbuilding, to regionalise the company's marine businesses and to expand the company's business activities in the nonmarine related areas.
