The Senate on Aug. 3 approved a must-pass bill aimed at renewing the Food and Drug Administration's authority to collect user fees from drugmakers -- funds the agency relies on for more than half its budget.
Senators voted 94-1 in favor of passing the bill, with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., the sole vote against. Sanders said the legislation should have included amendments to rein in drug prices.
The House unanimously passed its version of the bill July 12 in a voice vote.
