Societe Europeenne des Satellites (SES) signed an ECU 15.75 million (US$18.55 million) contract with Nortel Networks (NTL) for the provision of a turnkey interactive satellite system. The system will consist of a ground network as well as satellite interactive terminals (SITs) to construct Europe's first commercial Ka-band satellite return channel system, according to SES.
The new technology will be integrated into SES' existing Astra- Net multimedia platform to provide interactive broadband and bandwidth-on-demand multimedia services on the Astra 1H and Astra 1K satellites. Those birds both will be located...
