The building that houses SGW Designworks looks drab from the outside, but inside, among the mannequin parts, mechanical devices and stripped-apart electronics, the employees create a palpable sense of excitement.
The owners of the Boise-based product and process development consulting firm say they have a lot to be excited about. The company recently launched a new division of services that has attracted new clients and earned a $100,000 project.
For the first time since its founding, SGW Designworks has the staffing required to consult on embedded electrical systems.
"Our embedded system unit already has four active projects," said Tom Jensen, head of the embedded systems unit. "This could have a real domino effect."
SGW carries out a number of different services for manufacturers depending on where the companies are in development. The engineering team at SGW consults with businesses to help them design prototypes, develop manufacturing processes or make an existing manufacturing system more efficient.
"Since we work in two areas we have had a hard time explaining what we do traditionally," Tasche Streib, co-owner, said. "We serve people who either make things or who need things made."
