It's the holiday season and the flu season, which must explain my fever-induced Internet revelation last night. As you've probably noticed, the Net is getting its share of coverage these days. In fact, its impact on the industry-dominated discussion at the recent CRN Client/Server Roundtable. Oracle's Ray Lane called it "an opportunity to change the industry paradigm." Maybe. But during my late-night sweats, I realized that the Net's real value is that it makes it possible for all of us to screw off at the office and pretend that we are working. Cruise on, fellow surfers!
OK, so others have a different view of the Net's possibilities. Compaq is readying an Internet server for first-quarter 1996 that will run NT, Unix and NetWare.
