The community of Thais in Kelantan has flourished and blended well with
KELANTAN, literally translated as the `Land of Lightning', is a veritable
treasure trove of delights. For most visitors, the charms of Kelantan are
found in the exuberance of its culture and remote unsullied beauty. Its
rustic fishing villages, verdant rice fields and languid, palm- fringed
beaches have captivated many tourists. Known as the `Cik Siti Wan Kembang'
state, it is also popular as a shopping haven for traditional jewellery,
textiles and snack food.
Kelantan is known as the cradle of Malay culture as the Kelantanese have
carefully preserved their age-old customs and traditions over the
centuries. The cottage industries in Kelantan are impressive and self-
reliant endeavours that have contributed to the economy of the state and
