<p>Sierra Trading Post plans its fourth U.S. retail store in Meridian.</p><p>The city's economic development office said in a statement that it expects construction of a 25,000-square-foot building to start this summer and conclude by late November at 530 E. Sonata Lane, on a site developed by Bob Nahas in Central Valley Corporate Park.</p><p>We're extremely pleased to be welcoming Sierra Trading Post to Meridian, said Cheryl Brown, Meridian economic development coordinator. Not only will its merchandise be a great draw for Treasure Valley residents, it will create employment opportunities for approximately 16 area residents.</p><p>Sierra Trading Post, based in Cheyenne, Wyo., purchases name-brand overstocks and closeouts. It sells discounted dress, casual and outdoor clothing, footwear, home furnishings, accessories and gear.</ p><p>Keith Richardson founded the Sierra Trading Post in Reno 20 years ago. It employs about 700. The company markets through its stores, catalogs and an Internet site.</p><p>Sierra Trading Post works with more than 1,000 vendors including Columbia, The North Face, Merrell, Rockport, Carhartt, Ex Officio, New Balance, Patagonia, Timberland, Ecco, Oakley, Mountain Hardwear and Birkenstock.</p><p>Benchmark Construction, Nampa, will construct the building, designed by Billy Ray Strite of BRS Architects, Boise. Wells Fargo will finance the project. A cost estimate wasn't released.</p><p>Central Valley Corporate Park lies northeast of the Meridian Road interchange with Interstate 84. Sierra Trading Post will open near The Home Depot.</p>
