Cognigen Corp. of Amherst, originally known as Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research Inc., or PhOR, was created in 1992 to do data analysis for pharmaceutical companies to help them reduce the time required for performing clinical trials on proposed new drugs.
As part of its work, Cognigen also develops software not only to improve its internal methodology but to market it around the world to facilitate international scientific collaboration on, for example, research on dru to help malaria patients. Such research is critically important because it can help bring new drugs to market faster, and perhaps reduce their costs.
