BOULDER - Getting a marquee name like Boulder Corp. for your businesses would seem a major feat, indeed. But the naming accomplishment is not nearly so impressive as the client list the small systems integrator has managed to assemble in just four years.
Chief Executive Officer Lesley Taufer said registering the Boulder Corp. name took no more than a routine visit to the Colorado Secretary of State's office. An associate has since told her "whatever you do, don't change the name."
Taufer bad actually been seeking Boulder Group as the name of her new company in 1993, but it wasn't available. She scooped up the Boulder Corp. name instead, but let it sit idle for five years until she re -registered it and incorporated as a Boulder-based information technology consulting company and systems integrator in 1998.
Today, the company provides services to small- and medium-sized businesses that have neither the time, nor the expertise and money, to maintain and operate their maze of computer networks, remote access systems and Web presences. The company also provides security audits, using "ethical hackers" to identify the weak spots in a company's network firewall.
