Smiths News FD goes after 28 years

Abstract

Smiths News FD Alan Humphrey is retiring after a mere 28 years at the company, more than ten as FD. His career has encompassed a number of different iterations during that period. At WH Smith he served as FD of Our Price and Waterstone's, before the book retailer was sold to HMV Media. He rejoined the newsagent as FD of WH Smith News in November 2002 - staying on as FD of Smiths News following its demerger in 2006. The CFO and chairman have stepped down from pharma company Silence Therapeutics. Former CFO Melvyn Davies leaves after 15 years at the company.
