IT ENVIRONMENTS that contain a mix of legacy systems, a variety of servers, and a large number of clients often choose to deploy a server-based gateway to simplify access to hostsystem resources. The beta version of Microsoft's SNA Server 4.0 provides basic gateway access to host-systems applications via 3270 and 5250 terminal emulation, and it enables legacy-system output to network printers.
Beyond your basic host functions, SNA Server is an excellent tool for enabling host-system accessibility in Windows-centric environments due to its tight integ ration with Microsoft's Transaction Server (MTS) and Internet Information Server.
